Grace Haven: Day 11

When I arose on Wednesday (afternoon!), I was happy to find that I finally had a grape harvest.

And, because some of the day's harvest was of better quality than the original plants, I disposed of the old grapevine and the old lettuce plant, and planted the superior produce in their place.

I also fertilized both plants.

I cleaned myself up at the gym, and met a guy named Al Fogel.

He was nice--friendly and frugal, and he Loves the Outdoors.

He's also single,

has no partner,

but unfortunately he's unemployed.

Of course, he could have lots of potential, but he's no Jon Lessen.

I then set out to catch the final fish I needed for the Amateur Ichthyologist sub-challenge. I started exploring the territory on the other side of the fish hatchery, looking for anything to use for bait that I didn't already have.

I came upon a house (the mailbox said "Carpenter-Rhodes", but no one was home). I peered over the fence and spied several garlic plants.

I harvested just one plant.

I considered leaving a note for the house's owner, but what was I supposed to say: "Hi, you don't know me, but I stole garlic from your garden"? I resolved instead to meet the owners later and pay them back in some way.

I'd heard about a fishing spot out that way that I hadn't tried--Lost Willow Park,

which promised an "Unknown Fish".

Shortly after 1:00 a.m., I had caught a Vampire Fish, and completed the Amateur Ichthyologist sub-challenge!

Since that was my goal for the night, I left immediately and went to the grocery to sell all the extra produce and fish I had been carrying around.

I received $1,720!

I also sold a Mood-Lite candle for $39,

and the Mysterious Mr. Gnome for $1,007!

This brought my Household Funds up to $3,351,

and I realized I finally could afford a bathtub, and maybe a toilet, too.

I'd spun a wish to buy something worth at least $250,

so I called the plumbing supply place from my cellphone and found out the prices for the top-quality tub and toilet I wanted.

It turned out that I couldn't afford both,

so I opted for the tub and figured I could make do with the community garden toilet for another few days.

While my new tub was being delivered, I busied myself harvesting the community garden. (I still have a few levels to go to get to Gardening Level 10.)

When I suddenly received 500 Lifetime Happiness points, bringing my total back up to 11,320,

I realized that the new tub must have been delivered and installed!

I congratulated myself for getting by without any plumbing equipment of my own for 12 days.

I used the toilet at the community garden, and excitedly ran home.

Though I was very tired, I took time out for the luxury of a nice bath,

before going to sleep just after 11:00 a.m.

  1. Congratulations Grace on finishing one part of the challenge. And Al Fogel does seem worth getting to know better, though she and Jon do seem to have the most sparks for one another.
