Grace Haven: Day 10

I got out of bed after only a couple hours' sleep on Tuesday morning, so that I could tend my garden at the most advantageous time to do so (according to Gardenia).

I then went back to bed to sleep for another few hours, then got up and went to the community garden to harvest all the plants there.

By the time I was done, I really stunk, and spun a wish to Bathe,

which fortunately was satisfied by my taking a shower at the gym.

After my shower, I went upstairs to see if there were any more guys to meet. The only one I didn't yet know, though, was Trigger Broke, who's just a teenager.

At about 9:00 p.m., I returned to the southernmost bridge to fish, since I'd had such luck there the night before. My luck continued--I caught a lobster,

and reached Fishing Level 7 before midnight.

I wanted to catch a Robot Fish--which can be caught only at the Science Facility--and I was astonished to discover that my casting could reach all the way across the river to that spot!

I was able to catch my first Robot Fish and, wanting to continue my lucky streak, I crossed the river and moved upstream to the bank near the graveyard, and there caught my first Deathfish!

With a glance at my Fishing skill journal, I realized I needed to catch just one more new type of fish to complete the Amateur Ichthyologist sub-challenge that was required for the GAC Challenge.

I tried several fishing spots, and found one that promised an "Unknown Fish",

but, though I tried every kind of bait I had in my inventory and caught a lot of fish (and other items),

by 8:30 a.m. I still hadn't caught the last fish I needed.

I suddenly realized that it was probably because I didn't have the right bait.

"Hmmm, what grows around here that I don't have?" I fell asleep wondering, and resolved to go out exploring in new places when I got up.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: Join us next time, when Grace goes exploring, and guesses correctly which new type of bait she needs to catch her last type of fish. She ends up trespassing and stealing another household's harvest!

  1. I'd wondered if she'd be able to catch the deathfish before level 10. Good to know that it's possible. I continue to be impressed at how quickly Grace is plowing through the challenge requirements.

  2. Wanted to add... There must be something about that area around the river in Riverside that lets you do those super long casts. It looks like the same spot that Harriet had her super cast, though hers was in reverse of Grace's since she was standing over by the robotfish spot and casting at that spot by the bridge on the other side of the river where Grace was.
